Longtime East Boston activist William Ferullo declared: "If something isn't running right, fix it." Generations of East Boston activists have faced difficult circumstances with that same spirit. Hear Ferullo discuss how activism led to Piers Park's creation in 1995 after Massport took Wood Island Park in 1967. "When you know the truth, you act on it, things happen and you change the world," expands Neighborhood of Affordable Housing's Philip Giffee, who got involved after moving to East Boston in 1971. Liliana Tirado Arteaga and Kannan Thiruvengadam comment on Eastie's ongoing challenges, from gentrification threatening its immigrant character to climate change.
